Adagio for Strings is one of my favorite pieces of all time. It's been used in many films but my favorite two being The Elephant Man and Platoon. In this video it is being performed by the BBC orchestra in London and I just love the emotion that comes from the conductor (you must see the very end) and from the the fingertips of each musician. Have you ever watched a cello cry?
It rained alllllll night last night. I couldn't sleep so I went to the guest room where I could open up the windows and let the sound and smell in without waking the hubby. As I lie awake listening to the rain, I hear adagio for strings in my head.

I too love this piece... frequently listening to it on my ipod. It is such an emotional piece... and always reminds me of The Elephant Man with John Hurt (a film that has a lot of personal meaning to me).
I read this post, and it touched so many strings in my heart, as I also love the sensation of a cool breeze blowing over me when I am in bed, and love listening to the rain.
Thank you for sharing this with us, and it is nice to know somebody who recognises some of those special little things in life.
Wishing you a truly wonderful weekend :)

It is definitely all about the little things isn't it? It rained last night and I slept better than I have in weeks. Adagio for Strings is such an emotional piece...you are so right...
