Indigenous Tribe Spotted and Photographed on the Border between Brazil and Peru

I read this on the BBC News today and I was so excited! What a totally cool discovery. The Brazillian government is protecting the tribe and the land for these people that have not ever been contacted. Most of the uncontacted tribes of the world acutally live in Brazil or Peru.

"We did the overflight to show their houses, to show they are there, to show they exist," the group quoted Jose Carlos dos Reis Meirelles Junior, an official in the Brazilian government's Indian affairs department, as saying. "This is very important because there are some who doubt their existence." He described the threats to such tribes and their land as "a monumental crime against the natural world" and "further testimony to the complete irrationality with which we, the 'civilised' ones, treat the world".

Here are the pictures they took from an airplane. After they flew over, the tribes people painted themselves red. I wish I knew why. I wonder what kind of food they eat and what their communication is like. I wonder what our similarities are.

A very cool story. I wondered what they thought about the planes or helicopters that were flying low over them.

I have been watching this on the TV over the past few days... it is simply mind-blowing. It is truly exciting and very humbling to know that there are still pockets of tribes in the Amazon and other locations around the world that survive without the knowledge. It clearly provides more fuel for a halt to be called on the needless destruction of the forests that grown upon our planet.

Some of the fascinating things that were noted when the plane flew overhead was that the women painted themselves in black (and most of them went into hiding). The men painted themselves in red and orange and fired arrows and spears at the plane. Also, the plane was able to identify areas of the community... including a basic weaving loom that was used to make cloth.

Each time this report was shown on TV, I had to stop what I was doing and listen intently.

I totally agree with you, just just thinking about it opens up so many questions.

Warm regards ~ Graham :)

wow, that's amazing! they must be worried something crazy about those big birds flying over them, hoping and praying that they won't return!

So these are people that have never been contacted by others? I never thought that still existed! I thought humans covered every inch of the damn earth.

Yeah I heard about this tribe a few days ago.

Its amazing that there are still tribes out there that haven't been contacted yet. They must live such fulfilled lives if they haven't ventured outside of their area before.

hhmmm... call me skeptimistic (it is too a word) but i have a hard time believing things like that.
and i believe it happened before and was proven to be a farce...?
