Chick's Revival
Rockin' Donna D has tivoed (is that a word?) the movie For One More Day. The funny thing, is that she calls the other day and asks "have you read the book, For One More Day?" I say, "yes, just finished it yesterday...how did you know?" Well, she didn't know but it was on tv and she saved it. Just a coincidence, but a cool one! So tomorrow night, us gals and our other gal pals are going to sport some pajamas over to her house (with Mexican food in hand of course) to watch a little chick flick. The book, written by Mitch Albom (The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Tuesdays With Morrie) is about a man named Chick Benetto (hey, double connotation there!) Chick is a baseball player that grows up taking his mom for granted and then goes into a deep depression when she dies. We can all relate right? In the book, he details for us many times that his mom stuck up for him when he was a child and then also tells us the times he did NOT stick up for her. The title, For One More Day, gives you an idea of what he is granted in the book...one more day with his mom (who has been gone for 8 years). He and his mom spend a day in between life and death and Chick learns to appreciate his mother and possibly even gain some redemption. Although not exceptionally memorable, it is a quick and easy inspirational read.
